Americana Summer Tablescape

Land that I love...

Mix and Match...much like the melting pot country, I love...

Dollar Tree Dishes matching with Antique Milk Glass & Red Christmas Clearance..
mixing  with garage sale finds...plus reusing Jelly Jars...

priorlives...

Making a more interesting  table setting....

Chalkboard tags I made from laminate tile samples, tied on with butcher's twine...

I originally intended sand as my jar filler, didn't have any...improvised with beans...better for the table!

This jar was one I had around from Wal~Mart, but a big pickle jar would do nicely, as well.

Jelly Jars are our fancy glasses 'round here...
They have detailed cuttings,
which make a pretty candle holder for pathways and porches...
                                                       casting romantic light...

I use silver edged cut glass coasters, picked up here and there...
the perfect size to catch drips from pillar candles,
one friend hung them from her window...
during Christmas...       sunlight catching snowflakes

I painted this Texas flag on one of the old black screens off this old house..
the wood patched with rusted tin cans...
telling of an era when folks mended.

 Notice my French Doors...
Awhile back, I asked your advice about white or black doors,
everyone, including me, had  different opinions,
so I decided on black and white,
mimicking my stairs. I love them.
Jared had this old sign in is yard...He gave it to me for my Birthday, a few years ago..
We tore down all the fake ceilings to reveal these wonderful planks above...13 feet high, now.

opposite side from Buffet sign...
You step up from the living room, because all but the living room is pier and beam.

I've never posted pics of my dining room, since we finished the re-model...so there you go!

The potting table Josh made me...
I use it to serve desserts and hold party stuff, need to spiff it up for summer!

I love Red, White, & Blue...

The Lazy Susan was a Goodwill gift from sister, Charlotte...she knows just where to shop!
Hope you are enjoying your Memorial Day Weekend...

last week of school for me, then summer!

rustic antique lantern...

Some of our Christmas tour stuff I never posted...
That one room was so chock full, don't know if I could ever show it all!

Moma's old lantern...even the original glass is still intact...

I think it would still work fine...

rusted perfection...with  Christmas lights glowing in it...

We found an old map of our school district, love  the red  outlines...and I thought...

Let's do a Santa and his sleigh sighting,
like they used to do on the weather radar during the news!

,
of course it looked prettier with the candles lit and goodies in the tin,
so hard to take pics with everything completely done during an event, everyone is too busy!

 Trains everywhere sometimes...small

and sometimes large (This Santa was about the size of a two year old)

Suzette wished out-loud, to our friend Susie, that she had a big train and later they turned a corner and this was in the trash...She painted it black and added the stickers...it had tracks with it, too! Our Christmas tour always has fun stories like this...

The Victorian Lady Tea Room front window. at Christmas...another wonderland I never showed you...We had it really decked out with wonderful gifts.

anyway...I've been to a water-slide park all day with Jr. High ~~~
So, I thought these snowy scenes looked refreshing..

Green Exterior Paint Color

The paint job is almost done...
sage, cream, with red...

touch ups & clean up, but couldn't wait to post, plus Jared wanted to see...

               during...
this siding is circa 1903, so it needed just a bit of washing, scraping and priming...

After...

Next is the driveway and pavers, picking them out tomorrow!!!  So many decisions to make...

and here is some more photos, in different stages of being done, in no particular order.
It is May and too pretty to be sitting at the computer!
                                                                       Plus,a grand baby is over!

We hope to put a little Victorian porch on where the covered El Camino is...
Nothing too ginger bready, just some white turned post, with a touch of ginger...
the original porch was on the opposite side ~
where my master bath and closet are now.

3  triangles have the fish scales....two can be seen here
..the original windows are 83 inches...

back porch, which we may screen in someday...

I love the red  and white French doors ~ we still need to scrape the windows clean...
My "TreeHouse" door is Red, also...
all the exterior doors...
I love this deep red.

Even tiny house got some paint and lipstick!!!
    I still want to
"doll"
this little house up with some Junk!

~More later when it is all done up~

I am so tickled green pink
about this home improvement,
Pay me no mind if you see me...
sitting out in the street,
just gazing at my home!
I adore how it changes...
 with the sun and shade.

Flower Girl Tu Tu: The Peacock Princesses, Wedding Series 2

Getting ready...
peacock tail feathers
 for the Peacock Princesses

We had three peacock princesses, our two grand babies and

 Laura's sweet niece

Laura's niece

Aubry Doodles
they went barefooted down the aisle and then went to sit with family

My darling great niece served as the traditional flowergirl
and here is a little sneak of the radiant bride in her stunning dress

practicing...she did an awesome job...

 Happy.
At first, they squealed , running all over the church ...
giggling with delight over their puffy dresses,

CamerRoniRoni being held by her mom, Jerri...
(Jodi and Laura helped Jerri make the the tu tu dresses)

but as time wore on...they were a little tired.

Hats and other peacock finery were encouraged.
Laura loves hats and a nod to Moma, as she is well-known for her hat wearing,
plus it was the year of the Royal Wedding and we all saw the hats they sported.

Grandmoma getting a sugar from Cam Cam

The boys looked pretty spiffy, too.
We made the bouts.
They chose to wear suits, white shirts with nice matching ties, which Josh gifted the guys with.
He was so proud of them, because he purchased them in the TALL dept.,
so they actually fit all those tall guys.

Granddaddy giving some last minutes instructions...
mmm hmmm, them girls instructing him, more like it!

Rehearsal Dinner Decor and Food ~ Wedding Series Post One~

We went back and forth~

Should we just go to a restaurant,
 or do it ourselves...?
In the end,
to have it be the casual, yet personal
celebration we desired,
we decided  to throw the party ourselves
besides we did it this way for our other married son.

(of course it is awesome to have a big  generous family,
in which I  depend on,
to go without sleep, overlook my bossy self ,or whatever  else it might entail,
to make it all come together,
thank you, form the bottom of my heart)

The Fellowship Hall was being decorated for the reception,
so we used another church building...

It sets on the lot where my childhood home stood...my birthplace.
We sold the property to the bank, later they sold out to the church.
So, it looks like a big bank lobby, turned children's ministry building...

Potato Salad...thanks Bev

homemade by family
A spread for 60

Smoked Brisket...thanks William & Ronnie

A menu for every place setting...
Each item named after the person who prepared it.

Dessert Table...

JUST DESSERTS

I like how the shutter and plate sign turned out.

 The wedding colors were blue...

with peacock feathers and green accents

and yes,
I realize the table linens are wrinkled...
however, it fit right in with the
burlap and mason jars...
& brisket.

Texas Sheet Cake...thanks Jodi

A punch bowl full of banana pudding...with more in the fridge...thanks Bev

brownies,

cookies
individual cherry & blueberry cheesecakes

Yummm...

Great Nephew

Josh designed the peacock motif , which was displayed throughout the wedding,
beginning with the invitations...

Suzette used the design when making  the darling cup cake topper,
which lent a very cohesive pulled together look

 Tables

Us...>>>>>

The tables made a huge square with Josh and Laura's round table in the center.
I'll try to find a picture.

Mason Jars...Suzette fixed these up so prettily.
using the peacock pattern, again

We raided Moma's Bottle Trees and Vase Stash.
They are used here, at the wedding and reception.

We also had scrabble letters spelling out love and marriage words,
along with lots of great billfold size engagement pics for everyone to take.

The children had a special table, with a PEACOCK to color

Thanks to Charlotte and others who helped prepare, serve, and clean up
